Set Dog
I was preparing to go back to Los Angeles so my father volunteered to care for my Poodles. When the time came for them to be returned to me, Dad was heartbroken, so I promised him a puppy.
Just before Christmas I was preparing for a party and took my poodles to the groomer, who later showed me Cere’s obvious “nursing station”. It was interesting to see the milk sacks bulging full, which indicates immanent birth. Inexperienced in birthing puppies I didn’t plan on that night but decided to get set up as soon as I got home.
This is how to set up the whelping box:
1. Choose a warm, quiet area mother and babies can be safe.
2. Section it off with boards or a large cardboard box cut not too high or the mother won’t be able to get out. Supermarkets get massive boxes which the Manager will give you.
3. Fill the box with soft blankets for comfort.
4. Cover with a tarp or potty pads which can be thrown away after the puppies are born.
You are now ready for the new puppies.
After I completed the whelping box, I concentrated on my party. When I was cleaning up later, I noticed Cere’s odd running around. That is an indication your dog or other pet, is in labor. I rushed her to her box, she laid down and immediately delivered 2 little girls, and a boy I named Chip.
The puppies were so cute and so tiny, no bigger than the length of my hand. But the days went by too fast and before I wanted it to happen, it was time to turn them over to their new families. Except Chip, who thought he was going to continue nursing until Cere made it clear the nursing station was closed, forever!
Chip stayed with us a couple months and then I sent him to my father who renamed him Boo. I truly doubt that any dog and any human could have loved each other as much as those two did. When my father passed away suddenly some years later, Boo adopted me, but I know he mourned for weeks.
Seven years later, I came home from work to find him lying on the floor where I had left him that morning. We snuggled, he kissed me and I believe he knew he had to leave which he did hours later at my vets office. When he died, I felt as though he had again become a puppy for my father and that now they would get to spend eternity together.
For me, there are lovely memories of puppies in a box I easily made, and have passed building instructions on to friends since, I hope your puppies and their mommy will be as warm and comfortable as my little Poodles were in the box you make.
If a dog is set to be euthanize?
Would the humane society give the pet away to someone for free if someone wanted it? Or would they euthanize the pet. 
just wondering.
They would rather kill a dog then EVER give it away for free.
If you can’t pay, the dog is dead.
