Sherpa Cat
WIll probably have to fly with my cat in the near future, and i’m wondering about carrier sizes…?
So, it looks like at some point this summer i will have to fly a considerable distance (still in the US though, but several hours of flight) with my small cat. she is fully grown but has always been very petite. i’d definitely say that she is under ten pounds. I have looked at some of the size requirements for the carry-on pet carriers (i’m probably going to buy a sherpa duffel-style carrier), and I think my cat could fit fairly comfortably in a “small” carrier (the one i’m considering is 16″l X 10.25″w X 9″h). However, I have also found a slightly larger “medium” carrier that fits most of the carry-on guidelines (this one is 18 x 11 x 10.5) which would be better for my cat? would she be safer in either one? or should i choose one with the most wiggle room for her?
Don’t buy one until you check with the airline you are going to use. each airline has their own very specific requirements for the carrier…must meet their requirements. some rent you one that they want you to use.
