What can I do do stop my dog from barking and being out of control at other dogs on our walks?
My dog is a pit mix and is wonderful inside the house. She is great on walks with her choke collar, but whenever another dog comes around she acts crazy and barks and jerks me around. I am pregnant and due in less than 3 weeks and I cannot continue having these problems. She’s great with people and with children, but I cannot have her jerking my child around either. I don’t want to get rid of her because I adore her. Any suggestions?
I have tried the gentle leader and it isn’t strong enough for her. She’ll yank so much when she see’s another dog, that no matter how tight it is, it’ll come off or loosen. Is there something I could put in a spray bottle to spray her nose whenever she sees another dog to distract her besides water?
Pit Bulls and Pit mixes are known to have da ,just some more severe then others. I have a female Pit who has da so severe I never walk her around other dogs.I can recommend the prong collar which will help you to gain some control of her on walks .It looks scary ,but works well. I’ve used this on Tigger to help with her da,and it has helped immensley.
I’m going to recommend 2 breed specific web sites that maybe can help. These people are very experienced in the Pit Bull breed.
