Prepare a cat that suffers car sickness for a 4 hour drive?
I am moving with my cat along, 4 hour drive and then 8 hour flight into Europe (unable to leave her at a shelter, I would never consider that). My cat gets very easily car sick, starts drooling abundantly and meows as if she is about to die. She handles surprisingly the flight very well, as she has done this before.
Any tips?
The first thing I’d recommend is to take up her food at least 8 hours before leaving so it’s less likely she’ll suffer from stomach upset. Your vet can also give or tell you about medications that can calm their stomach (like Dramamine that works for humans that get carsick) or sedate them just enough to help your kitty on her ride.
