what causes brown stains on shirt collars and how to do you prevent that?
This sounds gross…and I shower twice a day so it’s not cause I’m a dirty person. But does anyone know why this happens? skin pigment? tan? I think it’s when I sweat.
I use that shout stain remover and it works pretty well (i think you have to do it within a day or two) but what is the line between a removable collar stain and a permanent one?

My children and husband wear white shirts with their school / work uniforms – they always get the stains on their collars – and we are really clean and they don’t sweat a lot – my husband is dark skinned, my children lighter (I don’t think that has anything to do with it though).
It is just the oils in your body and the collar sits right on your neck near your hair line, so it just goes like that.
I wash them after each wear and usually just use a spray on stain remover – but it never gets it all off – so every now and then I do a big soak of the shirts in baby nappy-san oxyaction plus (you can use any good strength baby nappy stuff) – you can use it on whites or colors and you put them in the laundry tub – fill with really hot water – put in a big cupful of the powder – stir it in with a big wooden spoon. Leave until the water cools (few hours). Then remove the shirts and wash as normal – all stains gone!
If I only have white shirts, every now and then use a bleach and let them sit in that for half a day, then wash as normal. that gets any stain off – no stain is “permanent”.
