How do you convert fresh water fish tank to salt water ?

I currently have fresh water fish tank looking to covert to salt water any websites, would be great also if you have any answers and is salt water tank easier and do they fish love longer ?

You DEFINITELY do not want to sanitize the tank period. You may want to rinse the tank thoroughly, use sponges that are specially made to clean fish tanks, do not buy regular sponges for some of them already have soap added to it. You must stay away from soap or any detergent for that matter.

Second off, if you have used any chemicals such as copper or formalin, it’s in your tank no matter what. Copper and formalin does affect saltwater fish.

What you need to start a saltwater fish tank is a plan. By planning things out, you have better chances of succeeding than just to jump into the hobby. Research is another key role into being successful. Equipment such as a good filtration system, you will definitely need a hydrometer, you will need a Protein skimmer if you have a live rock or reef tank. You will also need a UV Sterilizer to keep the algae down and to possibly kill parasites floating around your tank. The list keeps going and going.

Honestly, Saltwater tank is more work, but when tending to sick fishes, it’s a lot easier to tend to them than freshwater. The reason being is that there are methods to treating saltwater fishes without using chemicals that can kill the fish.

It all depends on you. That is the true answer, how much time do you have to spend with the fishes, will be the answer to having healthy fishes. I can speak of this because I do own an saltwater aquarium, and I bought fishes from the store that looked like it’ll die, but the way I treated it, made the fish live in better health and they are now active compared to when they were at the pet store.

What I did I would not recommend to anybody just beginning. I knew what I was doing when I bought a sick clown triggerfish from the pet shop. For your information on learning is by doing research and able to identify marine fish diseases. Also, to learn you must make mistakes first. However, that is why I am here which is to assist people just beginning.

Anyways, Components for your answer is: Planning, Research, Understanding how each equipment works, and Understanding and Identifying the diseases and how to treat them.
