Guard for ceramic heat emitter?
I need to work a guard for a ceramic heat emitter. I thought I would make it of wood, how big it should be the gap between the lamp and the guard? and are these type of aluminium “dishes” or shades that are found in pet shops be used instead ? it is going to be fixed in a 7×2.5×2.5ft Boa cage
If you’re going to use one, you need to make certain that your boa cannot get to it, or it’s going to burn the heck out of him. As for the dome, I’d highly suggest using the ceramic base domes. They hold heat better and hold up a lot better than the cheap ones. I’d suggest not using wood as a guard because you’re asking for a fire. They get extremely hot due to the tungsten inside of them, and they would pose a fire risk if mounted in wood.
