Petsafe Wireless
I have a four month old weimaraner puppy. Is it safe to use the Petsafe wireless fence on a dog that young?
I am currently using the Petsafe wireless fence for my adult weimaraner and it has worked really well. I just don’t know how old my new puppy needs to be to get his own collar.
It depends more on the size of the dog than age.
If he is too small for the collar you can still start training without the collar. Have him on a retractable leash and to the edge of the containment area (the flags should be in place on the INSIDE border of it) and as he gets into it pull him back with the “NO” (or what ever you use) command. As he gets used to it as well as larger just hang the collar loosely so he can hear the tone. This will shorten the time needed to train with the collar in place.
I don’t recommend wireless systems and PetSafe in particular as I have found these products very limited as well as junky.
