Are dogs meant to chew OFF the string ends on the rope toys?
My dog loves rope toys, but my mom refuses to let her chew them because she loves chewing off the stringy ends on them. She doesn’t care for the actual rope. My mom thinks this is unhealthy for the dog. So is it really important to discontinue letting her eat the strings? Can it get clog her up at all? She’s always passed them in her stool. Colorful poo!
My mom thinks it’s totally wrong for the dog to chew/eat the strings, what other reason would they be on the rope toy for though?!
P.S. My dog refuses to play with any other toys. I’ve already tried it. D-:
P.S.S. We would only let her have a rope toy like once or twice a month.
I always remove them before they can be eaten. They play with them till they are real frayed then off they go! I do not think it is good to let them eat it. There are many toys for dogs on market and a lot of them are with supervising only. I just stay away from those and give mine dog chew tires,kongs. The tougher the better, the less attached even better. It is also recommended not to give your pet any toy that looks like something they are not allowed to touch of yours. LIke that cute chewy cell phoneThey are smart but not that smart. On the strings remove before they eat it. It may save their life and your bank acct. Hope that helps.
